SU roundup: Hornets move up in baseball poll

The Shenandoah University baseball team is up a total of one spot in two ranking polls released Tuesday morning by a pair of organizations.
The 31-9 Hornets, who were idle this past week, move up to the No. 15 position in the week 11 NCBWA/D3baseball.com poll and hold steady at No. 17 in the ABCA poll.
SU has 266 points to find itself between Tufts (Mass.) and Eastern Connecticut according to D3baseball.com.
In the ABCA poll, coach Kevin Anderson's club is 15 points behind Eastern Connecticut and 13 clear of Buena Vista (Iowa).
Webster (Mo.) is the nation's new No. 1 in the D3baseball.com poll. The Gorloks move up to No. 1 with Linfield (Ore.) dropping to No. 3 this week.
Linfield remains No. 1 in the ABCA poll with Webster No. 2.
UW-Whitewater is No. 2 in the D3baseball.com poll and third in the ABCA.
Shenandoah is awaiting the Monday announcement of a possible Pool C bid into the NCAA Tournament.
WINCHESTER -- The Shenandoah University Department of Intercollegiate Athletics announced Tuesday that registration for its 2014 Golf Tournament is now underway.
The 24th annual edition of the tournament will be held June 4 at Rock Harbor Golf Club in Winchester. Registration begins at 11 a.m. with a noon shotgun start.
Tournament fees this year are $125 per individual or $500 for a four-person team.
The entry fee this year includes greens fee, cart, range balls and two mulligans and two throws for participation in on-course games.
Additionally, player gifts, lunch, dinner, beverages and other outstanding prizes are included.
Format for the tournament is once again Captain's Choice (4 person scramble) with three flights based on team finish. Prizes will be awarded for 1st through 4th place low team score in each flight. Skill prizes will be awarded for the putting contest, longest drive, straightest drive and closest to the pin on par 3 holes. There will also be chances to win a new car on multiple par 3 holes.
Proceeds from this fundraiser will be used to enhance the student-athlete experience which includes: uniforms, travel, equipment and special projects. We hope that you can join us for this fun event.
