2014 All-Area Girls Tennis team

• Madison Ferst, Warren County

The senior played at No. 1 singles and led the Wildcats to a 13-3 record. Ferst guided the Wildcats to the Region 3A East semifinals, and played in the Conference 28 individual singles semis.

• Katelyn Foltz, Central

The senior helped lead the Falcons to the No. 3 seed in the Conference 28 tournament. Playing at No. 1 doubles she teamed with Rebecca Truban and were Conference 28 doubles runner-ups.

• Abigale Lukens, Sherando

The sophomore led a very young squad to a 10-8 record. The team didn't have any seniors, and three of the top six were freshmen and sophomores. The Warriors advanced to the conference semis.

• Colleen Shamburg, Stonewall Jackson

The senior played at No. 1 singles for the Generals this season. Shamburg led an inexperienced young Generals squad to four wins, including three in a tough Shenandoah District.

• Rebecca Truban, Central

The senior played at No. 2 singles and teamed with Katelyn Foltz at No. 1 doubles for the Falcons. Truban and Foltz advanced to the Region 3A East individual doubles tournament.

• Kaylee Venable, Skyline

The freshman played at No. 1 singles for the Hawks. Venable led a young and inexperienced squad to five wins, including a win over John Champe to make it into the Conference 28 tourney.

• Morgan Walton, Warren County

The senior played at No. 3 singles for the Wildcats. Walton played most of the season at No. 1 doubles with Madison Ferst. She helped lead the Wildcats to a Region 3A East berth.

• Lauren Woodrell, Warren County

The senior played at No. 2 singles for the Wildcats. Woodrell had a three-set, a three-hour 30-minute win against Loudoun Valley to clinch the Conference 28 crown for the Wildcats.
