HARRISONBURG -- Stonewall Jackson finished as the runner-up for the second straight day in Thursday's Shenandoah District mini-tournament at Heritage Oaks Golf Course in Harrisonburg.
The Generals fired a team total 332 to finish five strokes behind first-place East Rockingham (327).
Jonathan Koontz again led Stonewall Jackson on Thursday, as he shot a 4-over-par 75 to place third individually. Buffalo Gap's Campbell Thompson won low-medalist honors with a 1-over-par 72, while East Rockingham's Jacob Laughlin fired a 74.
Other scorers for the Generals included Kory Somers (82), Ben Rosenberger (83) and Yash DeSai (92). Tyler Somers (100) and Blake Carter (102) did not factor into the team scoring for Stonewall Jackson.
"I was pretty pleased again. I think our key this year is our consistency at the top. Our three at the top did well," Generals head coach Roger Wilkins said. "I think the concern is developing that consistency at the bottom... In fairness to them, they're young.
"They're doing all they can at this point," he added, "but it's still early in the year."
