WINCHESTER -- Shenandoah University head softball coach Marlena Kotynski announced her 2014 recruiting class Friday morning.
Kotynski, who has averaged nearly 22 wins per season since taking over the program in January 2005, is bringing 11 women into the program for the 2015 season.
These 11 newcomers combine with 11 returnees to try out for the 2015 squad.
The 11 women represent five different states, including six from Virginia. Warren County High School graduate Cassie Green is among the newcomers for the Hornets.
The class consists of two corner infielders, four middle infielders, a catcher, an outfielder, a utility player and two pitchers.
"We did not have a typical season last spring and everything is on the table," Kotynski stated in a news release. "I want each one of the women to know that they have an equal opportunity to go out and earn a spot on this team.
"There is a good mix of playing positions throughout the class, so all of them are going have that opportunity to seize a starting spot."
The fall, non-traditional season begins Sept. 2 and concludes with a home tournament on Oct. 4.
