WINCHESTER — Shenandoah University head cross country/track & field coach Andy Marrocco announced the recruiting class for his cross country programs Thursday afternoon.
Marrocco, preparing for his ninth season heading up the two programs, welcomes five men and four women onto the two squads this fall.
Additionally, Megan Battaglia and Abigail Rios, who were members of the track & field and women’s lacrosse programs, respectively, last season, join the cross country team for 2014. Both women are expected to run both indoor and outdoor track & field as well.
Four of the five men and three of the four women are Virginia natives with the remaining two student-athletes, Ray Parsons and Madison Hess, representing New Jersey.
On the women’s side, Marrocco welcomes local products Erin Chilcott (James Wood) and Taylor White (Handley).
Both teams open their seasons on Aug. 30 at the Sea Gull Opener hosted by Salisbury University.
