SU roundup: Wernecke, Shah among Hornets’ new recruits

WINCHESTER — Shenandoah University men’s soccer coach Corbin Sutton announced his 2014 recruiting class Tuesday morning.
Sutton, preparing for his fourth season at the helm of the men’s soccer program, has 22 men preparing to join his 12 returnees from the 2013 squad.
Seamus Doherty, a native of the Republic of Northern Ireland, highlights the class while the remaining 21 hail from Virginia, Maryland, Pennsylvania and New Jersey.
Eighteen of these players are Virginia natives, including local products Austin Wernecke (Sherando) and Kishan Shah (Skyline).
“We are going to have excellent competition during summer camp,” Sutton stated in a news release. “We have been working hard to increase our depth and now I feel that we are at the point we need to be.
“These student-athletes are ready help us take the next step in the development of this program.”
