DuMez, Seigel are winners in 5K Fun Run event

FLINT HILL — Wakefield Country Day School hosted the eighth annual WCDS 5K Fun Run on Oct .4. Twenty five runners participated and finished the race.

The first overall finisher and Top Male Finisher and gold medalist in the male 13-18 age group was Lucas DuMez in 19 minutes, 53 seconds. The silver medalist for that age group was Ben Cotter in second place in a time of 22:00.

The gold medalist in the male category of 12 and under was Jefferson Day in 11th overall with a time of 31:30. The silver medalist in that group was Andrew Deal, 15th overall in a time of 36:44.

There were no runners in the male category of ages 19-29, but Daniel Deal won the gold in the age group 40-49 in 17th overall with a time of 37:11. Jon Frost took the silver medal in the group with a time of 37:25 for 19th overall.

James Deal was the gold medalist in the group 50 and over with a seventh overall finish in 26:06. Phil Rosenbaum was 10th overall and the silver medalist with a time of 28:26.

The females did not have any runners beyond the age of 39, so there were no medals awarded in the last two age groups. The gold medal for the age group 12 and under went to Hannah Frost, who was 13th overall in a time of 35:31. Emma Cooter took the silver medal in that age group with a 14th place finish in 36:29.

The Top Female Finisher was in the age group 13-18. Gretchen Seigel finished third overall in a time of 23:01 to take the gold medal. Tatumn Vaught won the silver medal, coming in ninth overall in 27:55.

Nikki Brady won the gold medal for the age group 19-39 with a 16th place overall finish in 36:55, with Emily Frost taking the silver medal in 20th place in a time of 37:35.
