Prep roundup 12-6

HARRISONBURG — After suffering through a winless season last year, Stonewall Jackson quickly made sure it wouldn’t happen this season. The Generals used a solid third quarter to pull out a 31-28 girls basketball victory over Eastern Mennonite on Saturday.

The Generals trailed 14-12 at the half, but outscored the Flames, 14-8, in the third period and held on for the win. Jayme Kokkonen had eight points, and Emily Jordan had six points, 10 steals and three assists for the Generals (1-0). Freshman Sara Streett had six points and six rebounds for the Generals.
