Prep roundup: Rams fall to Mustangs

FALLS CHURCH — George Mason used a huge run to pull away with a 60-45 Bull Run District boys basketball victory over Strasburg on Thursday night.

The Rams trailed by 17 in the first half, but were able to cut the lead to nine at halftime. Strasburg continued its surge in the third quarter, and was able to tie the game at 33-33. The Mustangs then went on a 17-0 run, and held on for the win.

Mekhi Hendricks led the Rams (5-1) with 12 points, while Ryan Smoot and Tyler Fincham had 10 each. Smoot also had 11 rebounds for Strasburg. George Mason (7-0) was led by Robert Tartt with 16 points, while Elliott Mercado had 15 and Josh Allen had 10.

Stuarts Draft 51, Stonewall Jackson 29
STUARTS DRAFT — Jillian Lewis scored a team-high 10 points as host Stuarts Draft knocked off Stonewall Jackson 51-29 in Shenandoah District girls basketball action on Thursday.

Cheyenne Crigger had 10 points to lead Stonewall Jackson (1-3, 0-1 Shenandoah). J.J. Dellinger added five points for the Generals.

SVCA 32, MVCA 22
WINCHESTER — Grace Snyder tallied 18 points to lead visiting Shenandoah Valley Christian Academy to a 32-22 win over Mountain View Christian Academy on Thursday.

Snyder also chipped in with five rebounds and a pair of steals.

Also for SVCA, Carol Bartholomew pulled down 15 rebounds, totaled six steals and blocked three shots to go along with five points. Hannah McGann chipped in five rebounds and four steals for the Patriots.
