Prep roundup 12-13: Rams use 3-pointers to knock off Mountaineers

STRASBURG — Strasburg used two big runs and a flurry of 3-pointers to knock off Madison County, 78-51, in Bull Run District action on Saturday.

The Rams broke open a 10-10 game late in the first quarter with an 11-0 run, which included a 3-pointer each by Mekhi Hendricks, Jordan Stump and Mark Smoot. Strasburg hit nine 3-pointers in the game, including eight in the first half.

“We really shot the ball well in the first half,” Strasburg coach Matt Hiserman said. “They switched from man to zone and that really benefited us. We had guys in different spots ready to shoot.

“It was a real good win.”

The Rams put together another 10-0 run to take a commanding 34-14 lead in the second quarter. Hendricks had 18 points, five rebounds and two assists to lead the Rams (4-0, 3-0 Bull Run).

Tyler Fincham had 17 points and three assists, and Tyler Brill had 13 points and seven rebounds for Strasburg. Stump added nine points, two assists and two steals, and Ryan Smoot had three points, 10 rebounds and five assists for the Rams.
