Warriors wallop Washington girls
CHARLES TOWN, W.Va. — Tuesday evening became one to forget for the Washington Patriots as they faced the Sherando Warriors.
Sherando scored early and often, while Washington struggled to put a point on the board as the Warriors cruised to an 81-13 victory.
Through the first seven minutes, the Warriors’ press defense stifled the Patriots as they went out on a 32-2 run. The Patriots’ lone points came in the form of a Julia Lutman jumper in the final minute.
The offensive woes continued for the Patriots in the second quarter as Sherando continued to stay on a hot streak, outscoring Washington 14-2 in the final eight minutes of the first half.
Washington’s lone basket in the second quarter came in the final minute on a jumper by Jessica Dinterman.
Washington was able to find a little bit of offense in the third quarter, scoring eight points, but Sherando continued to roll by outscoring the Patriots 35-9 in the second half.
Sherando was led by Heidi Brown, who led all scorers with 19 points. Audra Sites added 18 points, and Madison Leckie finished with 14 points.
Washington was led by Jordan Harder, who finished with four points. Four other Patriots finished with two points each.
