RICHMOND — James Madison University women’s basketball redshirt-senior center Lauren Okafor is Colonial Athletic Association Player of the Week for the second consecutive week and third time this season, the league announced Monday.

Okafor averaged a double-double over JMU’s 2-0 week, posting 17.0 points per game on 77.8 percent shooting from the field (14-of-18) and snagging a team-high 10.0 rebounds per game. She also added five blocks over 54 minutes of play.

This week, Okafor extended her double-figure scoring streak to six games while tallying her ninth double-digit rebounding performance of the season. At Elon, she notched her seventh double-double of the season with 17 points and 14 rebounds. When the Dukes returned home, she went a perfect 7-for-7 from the floor against Drexel and finished with 17 points.

Okafor is averaging double-double for the season with 12.9 points per game and 10.6 rebounds per game. She is sixth nationally in offensive boards per outing (5).

JMU is 6-0 to start CAA play, the only remaining undefeated team in conference play and the lone CAA squad with a current win streak of more than one game. The Dukes, 15-2 overall, boast an 88.2 winning percentage, the eighth highest in the nation (19 teams with an 88.2 winning percentage or better).

The Dukes return to the JMU Convocation Center on Thursday to face William & Mary at 7 p.m. for the second time in 11 days. Under Head Coach Kenny Brooks, JMU is 11-0 all-time against the Tribe at home.
