JMU roundup: Dukes earn women’s lacrosse win
RICHMOND — Anchored by a season-high 12 saves by senior goalie Schylar Healy, the 15th-ranked James Madison University women’s lacrosse team won its fifth game in a row Friday night with a 10-5 victory over Richmond at Robins Stadium.
The win moves JMU to 5-1 on the year, while Richmond’s brief two-game winning streak comes to an end as the Spiders fall to 3-4.
The Dukes outshot Richmond 23-17, which included a 12-5 advantage in the second half after the Spiders held a slight 12-11 advantage in the category at the break. Madison also won the draw control battle 10-7.
JMU will finish its three-game road trip on Wednesday when it travels to University Park, Pa., to take on No. 9 Penn State at 4 p.m.
HARRISONBURG — In an effort to play all four games of its weekend series against Canisius, the James Madison baseball team has altered the weekend’s schedule for Eagle Field at Veterans Memorial Stadium.
On Saturday, when the Dukes were previously scheduled to play a doubleheader, will now be just one afternoon contest with first pitch scheduled for 3 p.m. The doubleheader will be moved to Sunday beginning at noon, while Monday’s series finale will remain as scheduled at 1 p.m.
JMU’s Tuesday afternoon contest against Valparaiso in Harrisonburg, previously scheduled for 4 p.m., has also been moved up two hours and will now begin at 2 p.m.
The stretch includes five games in four days and kicks off a nine-game, nine-day run for the Dukes.
