Prep roundup: Mees, Patriots topple Yellow Jackets in baseball

FRONT ROYAL — Shenandoah Valley Christian Academy’s Alex Mees pitched a complete game four-hitter as the Patriots knocked off Randolph-Macon Academy on Monday in non-conference baseball action.

Mees struck out seven in the victory. Matt Rogers went 3 for 3 with two doubles, two runs scored, two stolen bases and an RBI, and Jack Margaros went 2 for 4 with two RBIs, a run scored and a stolen base for the Patriots (2-1). Nick Bailey went 2 for 4 with two RBIs for SVCA.

Doug Brennand went 1 for 3 with an RBI and Joey Monastero went 1 for 3 for the Yellow Jackets (1-2). Brennand struck out nine in four innings.


Skyline 10, Luray 2

LURAY — The Hawks improved to 2-0 on the season with a comfortable non-district victory over the Bulldogs.

Carrie Robinson threw a complete-game three-hitter and struck out 11 for the Hawks. Destiny Castro went 2 for 2, and Corinna Colton added two RBIs and a triple for the Hawks.
