SU roundup: Hornets open outdoor track season
FREDERICKSBURG — The Shenandoah University men’s and women’s track & field teams opened the outdoor portion of their schedules Friday by participating in the Battleground Relays at the University of Mary Washington.
The 4 x 200 relay team of Ansel Borhauer, David Johnson, Sansui Jalloh and Everton Eastwood paced the men with a school record 1:33.29.
The performance also placed them second in the event.
In the men’s throws, Phillip Way took third in the hammer with a toss of 35.80 meters.
On the women’s side, the Hornets swept the top five positions in the 3000 meters with Shelby Shrader winning it with a personal best 11:32.69.
Emily Cobb was second, Mackenzie Fennell third, Nicole Legare fourth and Sarah Mann fifth to give SU the sweep.
The meet concludes Saturday with a full day of action.
WINCHESTER — Shenandoah softball coach Marlena Kotynski announced Friday that her squad’s non-league doubleheader Saturday versus Christopher Newport has been moved.
The Hornets, winners of three of their last four, will now host the No. 22 Captains at Bridgewater College in Bridgewater.
Game one is slated for 3 p.m.
