Prep roundup: Park View shuts down Sherando

STEPHENS CITY — Jason Leckemby struck out 14 to lead Park View past Sherando, 4-0, in Conference 21 baseball action.

The Warriors managed only two hits against Leckemby. Michael White had a double in the sixth inning to break up a no-hitter. The Warriors loaded the bases in the bottom of the sixth with one out, but Leckemby struck out the next two batters, and then struck out the side in the seventh.

Myles McPartland had an infield single for the Warriors (3-6, 0-2 Conference 21).

SVCA 7, R-MA 6
FRONT ROYAL — Shenandoah Valley Christian Academy held off a late rally by the Yellow Jackets for a non-conference victory.

The Patriots held a 7-2 lead until R-MA scored three runs in the sixth and another in the seventh. SVCA’s Alex Mees came on in relief with no outs and two runners on in the seventh and pitched out of a jam to preserve the win.

SVCA was led by Mees, who went 2 for 3 with a double and two RBIs. Jack Margaros went 1 for 4 with two runs scored and two RBIs for the Patriots (5-2).

R-MA was led by Doug Brennand, who went 2 for 3 with a run scored, and John Camarella (2 for 3 with two runs scored and an RBI).

Sherando 1, Park View 1, tie
STEPHENS CITY — Tommy Buono scored in the first half to help give the Warriors a tie with the Patriots in Conference 21 action.

Tanner Wernecke assisted on Buono’s goal. Sherando (6-2-2, 2-0-2 Conference 21) led 1-0 at the half. Park View scored with about 15 minutes left in regulation.

QUICKSBURG — The Generals led from start to finish to pick up a win over the Bulldogs in Shenandoah District action.

LuLu Funkhouser scored two goals, and Kayla Miller and J.J. Dellinger each scored a goal for the Generals (2-5).
