Prep roundup: Sherando baseball picks up first conference win
LEESBURG – Sherando’s baseball team picked up its first Conference 21 win of the season Wednesday night as the Warriors beat Loudoun County, 9-3, on the road.
Sherando (5-9, 1-4 Conference 21) got a complete-game performance on the mound from senior Adam Whitacre, who gave up three runs (two earned) on eight hits and no walks while striking out seven.
The Warriors also got plenty of offense from the bottom of their lineup. Michael White had what coach Pepper Martin called a “career game” against the Raiders, as he went 3-for-4 with a double, three RBIs, a run scored and a stolen base while batting seventh. Number nine hitter Ty Michaud was 2-for-3 with a pair of singles, an RBI and a run scored, and Myles McPartland was 1-for-3 with a two-run double.
Sherando 7, Loudoun County 6
LEESBURG – Sherando senior Hannah Lockhart picked up four hits and pitched a complete game as the Warriors beat Loudoun County, 7-6, on the road in Conference 21 action Wednesday night.
Lockhart, who picked up her eighth win of the season, was 4-for-4 at the plate with a double and two RBIs. Katie Manson went 2-for-4 with two RBIs, Madison Clark was 1-for-3 with two RBIs and Tori Seymour was 2-for-3 with two doubles and a run scored for Sherando (9-4, 4-1 Conference 21).
