Prep roundup: Moya lifts Wildcats over Mountaineers in girls soccer

FRONT ROYAL — Lisette Moya scored two goals and an assist on the game-winning goal as Warren County rallied past Madison County on Monday in Bull Run District girls soccer action.

The Wildcats trailed 1-0 at the half, but Moya changed that quickly in the second half. Moya scored from about 25 yards out 10 minutes into the second half. Nine minutes later, Moya gave the Wildcats a 2-1 edge on a goal assisted by Courtney L’Amoreaux. With about eight minutes left in the game, Madison County tied it at 2-2. A minute later, L’Amoreaux scored the game-winner on an assist from Moya.

The Wildcats (8-5) outshot the Mountaineers, 10-6. Warren County goalkeeper Rachel Liebl had four saves.

“It was a hard-fought game, two evenly-matched teams,” Warren County coach Mike Carpenter said. “In the second half we played much better.”
