SU roundup: Mohlmann, McGrady begin final push to qualify for NCAA’s

DELAWARE, Ohio – Senior Jaclyn Mohlmann and sophomore Danyelle McGrady began their final push to qualify for the NCAA Outdoor Track & Field National Championships by competing at the Ohio Wesleyan Last Chance Meet Monday afternoon.

Mohlmann competed in the heptathlon while McGrady threw both the javelin and the hammer.

Mohlmann, who qualified for the 2014 National Championships by posting a school record score at this same meet last year, opened her 2015 qualifying attempt with a strong day that placed her fifth overall and 89 points ahead of her school record pace.

Mohlmann started with a 15.60 in the 100 meter hurdles for 764 points before winning the high jump with a 1.60 meter, 771-point leap.

She then posted a 9.38 meter shot put for an additional 489 points and had a 27.13 in the 200 meter dash for her final 701 points of the day.

Her 2725 points places her fifth of 14 competitors in the two-day, seven-event competition.

The heptathlon concludes Tuesday with the long jump, javelin throw and 800 meter dash.

McGrady had a sixth place showing in the hammer with a toss of 44.93 meters.

McGrady’s javelin results will be included in Tuesday’s release.
