SU roundup: Mohlmann sets new school record in track
DELAWARE, Ohio – Jaclyn Mohlmann ’15 is likely headed to the NCAA National Championships for Outdoor Track & Field after setting a new school record in the heptathlon Tuesday at the Ohio Wesleyan Last Chance Meet.
Mohlmann used an 1888-point day Tuesday to vault from fifth place to first in the competition and all the way to 13th nationally with a 4613 total.
The NCAA invites the top 22 competitors in the two-day, seven-event competition to the national championships, and Mohlmann looks to have secured a spot for the second straight year thanks to the new school record score.
After opening the day with a 4.68 meter long jump, good for 474 points, Mohlmann uncorked a school record 38.57 meter javelin throw to record 640 points and rise to first in the competition.
She held that spot by running a season best 2:23.72 in the 800 for her final 774 points.
The total breaks the mark of 4518 set in this same meet last season.
Danyelle McGrady, who competed yesterday in both the javelin and the hammer, was sixth in both events. She had a 35.89 meters javelin throw and a 44.93 meters in the hammer.
The NCAA bids are officially extended on Sunday.
