SU roundup: Bereit lands all-state honor

LYNCHBURG — Shenandoah University’s Liz Bereit added to her impressive resume again Thursday by earning Virginia State Sports Information Directors first team All-State honors for women’s lacrosse.

Bereit, who graduated Summa Cum Laude with a 3.92 GPA as a Sports Management major, is the only SU player on the VaSID squad.

Bereit led the Hornets with 51 goals and 19 assists for 70 points and was selected All-State at midfield.

The All-State accolade adds to a senior season in which the Latrobe, Pennsylvania native was named first team All-Old Dominion Athletic Conference and first team IWLCA Chesapeake Region after leading the team in goals, assists, points, groundballs, draw controls, caused turnovers.

Off the field, she was picked as the ODAC Scholar-Athlete of the Year for women’s lacrosse and named to the Capital One Academic All-America third team.

A three-year SAAC officer, Bereit was selected by the SU coaching staff as the female athlete, student-athlete and athletic director’s award winner (athletics, academics and leadership/community service) for the Class of 2015.
