JMU roundup: Dukes announce non-conference slate for men’s hoops
HARRISONBURG – James Madison University’s men’s basketball team unveiled its non-conference schedule, highlighted by nine home contests and a neutral-site game against Big 12 foe West Virginia, the school announced in a news release Tuesday afternoon.
In addition to the nine home games, which include matchups against former Colonial Athletic Association rivals George Mason and East Carolina, the Dukes’ have four road games on the non-conference schedule. JMU will also host the Men Against Breast Cancer Classic in November – its first home tournament since the 2010-11 season, according to the release – before capping its non-conference schedule with four straight home games.
The Dukes tip off the 2015-16 season on Nov. 13 with a 7 p.m. road contest at Richmond, followed by a trip to Charleston (West Virginia) Civic Center on Nov. 16 to take on West Virginia, which reached the Sweet 16 in the NCAA tournament last season. JMU will play its home opener on Nov. 20 against FIU in the first round of the Men Against Breast Cancer Classic.
The conference portion of the schedule will be released at a later date once finalized with the league’s television partners, the release stated. JMU returns nine letter winners and all five starters from the 2014-15 squad that captured a share of the Colonial Athletic Association regular season championship for the first time in 15 years, according to the release.
