SU roundup: Hornets announce softball schedule
WINCHESTER – Shenandoah University head softball coach Marlena Kotynski announced her 2016 schedule Monday morning.
Kotynski, who is entering her 12th season as the Hornets head coach, has 20 home contests scheduled for next spring.
Those 20 contests will be played as 10 doubleheaders beginning March 10 versus Mary Washington.
SU also hosts Catholic and Gettysburg in non-league play before opening ODAC action on March 19 with a 1 p.m. double-dip versus perennial power Virginia Wesleyan.
In addition to the Marlins, Lynchburg, Bridgewater, Randolph-Macon, Randolph and Roanoke will visit Henkel-Harris for league play.
Shenandoah travels to Eastern Mennonite, Guilford and Emory and Henry to round out ODAC action.
The final home doubleheader, versus Messiah on April 20, is a non-league double-dip.
Opening weekend, February 20-21, features four road contests. The Hornets open at Southern Virginia on the 20th before finishing the weekend with a noon doubleheader at Salem on the 21st.
Kotynski’s club is slated to make its annual trip to the Virginia Wesleyan Beach Blast March 4 and 5.
Former USA South Conference foe Christopher Newport, along with Frostburg State and McDaniel, complete the schedule with non-league doubleheaders on March 6, April 6 and April 12, respectively.
