The following are some of the area recreational events that are being held through Dec. 19:
The Winchester chapter of the Epilepsy Foundation of Virginia will hold an Awareness Stroll and 5K Run on Saturday in Old Town Winchester.

Sky Meadows State Park in Delaplane will hold a history hike from 1 to 3 p.m. Saturday beginning at the Lost Mountain parking area.
A park historian will share how George Washington once owned part of the land that is now Sky Meadows, how he acquired that land and how it shaped the earliest developments in the Crooked Run Valley.
Those attending are urged to wear comfortable hiking footwear, dress appropriately for the weather, bring water and snacks. Sunscreen and insect repellent are recommended. Total hiking distance is 2.5 miles.

Thanksgiving Day 5K
A Thanksgiving Day 5K will be held starting at 7 a.m. at Sherando Park in Stephens City. The certified 5K course travels both pavement and the woodland trails of the park. Information: 540-665-5678.
The Rocktown Turkey Trot and Gobble Gobble Kids Dash will be held from 8 to 10 a.m. Nov. 26 at 121 S. Main St., Harrisonburg.
The Kids Dash will be held at Court Square and finish prior to the Turkey Trot. The Turkey Trot is a 4-mile course and professionally timed event for all skill levels. Runners are encouraged to wear Thanksgiving-themed running gear. Information: 757-478-0495.
Jingle Bell 5K
The fourth annual Apple Capital Jingle Bell 5K Run and one-half mile kids’ run will be held at 8 a.m. Dec. 19 in downtown Winchester.
The run benefits the Youth Development Center in Winchester.
