The following are some of the area recreational events that are being held through Nov. 29:
The Herndon Turkey Trot 5K will be held from 4 to 6 p.m. Saturday starting at the Herndon Community Center, 814 Frndale Ave., Herndon.
Prizes for first- and second-place winners will be awarded in the following age groups: 10 and under, 11-14, 15-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69 and 70 and older. A turkey and all the trimmings will be given to the overall male and female winners.
Friday is the deadline for preregistration. Fees: $20 to $27 plus a can of food, which will be donated to LINK.

Berryville Turkey Trot, the area’s oldest road race, will have its 37th edition for area runners and walkers starting at 10 a.m. Saturday at the Clarke County High School, 627 Mosby Boulevard, Berryville.
Registration and packet pickup will begin at 8:30 a.m. in the school’s cafeteria for the three races: 2, 4 or 6 miles.
Pre-race entry is $10 for students and members of Shenandoah Valley Runners and $13 for all others. Race day entry remains $10 for students and $15 for everyone else.
Overall and age group awards will be given out following the races. A special feature is the random drawings for frozen turkeys, one for every 10 registered runners.

The sixth annual Woodstock Turkey Trot 5K and 10K race will be held on Saturday starting at the Massanutten Military Academy track and running through the town of Woodstock.
Registration will begin at 7:30 a.m. Start times are 8:15 for Teeny K and 9 a.m. for the 10K and 5K.
Proceeds benefit ChildSafe Center, a program that aids in the investigation process of children affected by violence and abuse. Registration, information: 459-2142 or www.raceroster.com.
A Thanksgiving Day 5K will be held starting at 7 a.m. Nov. 26 at Sherando Park in Stephens City.
Run, walk or stroll the certified 5K course on both pavement and woodland trails. Information: 540-665-5678.
