Recreation Calendar

The following are some of the area recreational events that are being held through December:

Holiday 5K
The annual Monticello Holiday Classic 5K and Deck the Halls Kids Dash will be held from 7 to 9 a.m. Saturday at Monticello, 931 Jefferson Parkway, Charlottesville.

Baseball camps
Shenandoah University baseball coach Kevin Anderson will hold winter baseball camps Dec. 28-30 and Jan. 16 and 30 for ages 7-12 and 13-18 in the former National Guard Armory on the campus of Shenandoah University in Winchester.
There will be four camps:
• Dec. 28: hitting/defense.
• Dec. 29: pitching/catching.
• Dec. 30: player/parent camp for ages 5-7.
• Jan. 16 and 30: preseason camp

Herndon tourney
Herndon Centennial Golf Course will host its annual New Year’s Eve Scramble golf tournament starting at 10 a.m. on Dec. 31.
Admission fee is $70. Information: 703-471-5769 or www.herndongolf.com.

Glow Run
The New Year’s Eve Glow Run 5K will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Dec. 31 in downtown Harrisonburg.

Kids ages 3-10 will start at 5 p.m. and run a quarter mile down the course. A special countdown and New Year’s Eve ball drop will be held just for them. Then they’ll run a quarter mile back to the finish line.
Warm up and stretches led by Breathe Pilates will be held at 4:45 p.m. A post-race celebration will follow the 5K.
