The following are some of the area recreational events that are being held:
Rockland Park 5k
The Edward Jones 5k will be held Saturday at Rockland Park in Warren County. Registration begins at 8 a.m. followed by the race at 9 a.m.
Proceeds from the race will be split between the Warren Coalition’s College Access Network and the cross country teams at Warren County and Skyline high schools. Registration forms are available at the Front Royal and Stephens City Edward Jones offices or register online at www.Active.com and search for Edward Jones 5K.

The Shenandoah Valley Runners will hold the following races this month:
- Leprechaun Leap 5k: 9 a.m., March 12, at Blandy Experimental Farm in Boyce. Sponsored by the Mountain Vista Governor’s School PTO. Registration is $20 in advance (includes a T-shirt) or $25 on race day. Registration: www.mvgshome.org/5k.
- Trooper Kevin Manion Memorial 5k: 8 a.m., March 26, at Winchester Regional Airport. Proceeds benefit scholarships for local high school students interested in a career in law enforcement as well as monetary support for the Frederick County Sheriff’s Office Youth Camp.
Registration fee: $25 in advance or $30 on race day for the 5K and $10 in advance or $15 on race day for the kids mile. Registration: www.troopermanion5k.com/registration.
March 18 is the deadline to register for the Shamrock 5k Trail Run at 9:30 a.m. March 19 at Hillandale Park in Harrisonburg.
The run is a low-key event geared toward beginners and casual runners. Registration, which is $20, benefits the Shenandoah Valley High Rollers Wheelchair Basketball Team.
Run for Gold
The Shenandoah Valley Christian Academy will hold its Shenandoah Run for Gold 5k and Kids’ Mile on March 19 at Newtown Commons in Stephens City.
The 5k is geared for ages 13 and older. Race-day registration begins at 7:30 a.m. followed by the race at 9 a.m. The registration fee is $20 in advance or $25 after Saturday.
The Kids’ Mile is for ages 4 to 12. Race day registration is from 8 to 10 a.m. followed by the race at 10:30 a.m. Registration fee is $10 in advance or $15 after Saturday.
The annual National Capital Boat Show will be held from noon to 8 p.m. March 11, 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. March 12 and 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. March 13 at Dulles Expo Center in Chantilly.

The Lord Fairfax Community College Wellness Committee will hold its third annual 5k and Kids Fun Run on April 16 at the Student Union building on the Middletown campus.
The Kids Fun Run starts at 8:30 a.m. and the 5k Run/Walk begins at 9 a.m.
Registration is $20 in advance or $25 after March 25. People can register online at www.lfcc.edu/5k.
