Recreation Calendar

The following are some of the area recreational events that are being held:

The Laurel Center is partnering with Shenandoah University’s (Not Just) Women’s Center to present the Walk a Mile in Her Shoes: The International Men’s March to Stop Rape, Sexual Assault and Gender Violence at 11 a.m. Saturday on the Loudoun Street Mall, Winchester.

The event asks men to literally walk one mile in women’s high-heeled shoes.

Registration fees are $35 for adults and $15 for college and high-school students. Shoe rental is available for $2. There will be prizes and much more.

Reston Marathon
The Runners Marathon of Reston will be held at 7:30 a.m. April 10 at South Lakes High School, 11400 South Lakes Drive, Reston.

The marathon and half marathon take place on two gently rolling and scenic half marathon loops around Reston.

The event includes a free pre-race pasta dinner and post-race food and music. This race is a Boston qualifier. New this year is a four-person marathon relay. Proceeds benefit the Reston Runners Community Fund to support local high school athletes.

Heroes vs Villain 5K
The Heroes vs Villains 5K will be held at 9 a.m. April 10 at the Fairfax Corner Shopping Center to benefit the Fairfax Law Foundation. The event also includes a Kid’s Fun Run and family friendly post-race activities.

Registration: through April 2, individual $35; kids fun run, $15. After April 3, $40 and $20. Registration can be made and packets can be picked up from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. April 9 at the Potomac River Running Co., Fairfax Corner location. Race day registration and packet pick up will open at 7:30 a.m. Prizes awarded.

Wolftrap Elementary 5K
The Wolftrap Elementary 5K will be held starting at 8 a.m. April 10 at Wolftrap Elementary School, 1903 Beulah Road, Vienna.

5K Fun Run
The Randolph Macon Academy Air Force JROTC will host a 5K Fun Run beginning at 11 a.m. April 23 in recognition of JROTC’s 100th anniversary.
