Baseball returns to Christendom’s athletic slate

FRONT ROYAL – Christendom College will expand its athletic offerings next spring with the return of the men’s baseball program, the school announced Monday afternoon.

According to a press release, Christendom athletic director Patrick Quest has been actively working to bring the sport back to the school since he joined the staff last summer, and the Crusaders will officially take the baseball diamond again in 2017 after a two-year hiatus.

“With the help and efforts of many, we are excited to bring ‘America’s pastime’ back to Christendom next spring,” Quest stated in the release. “Please continue to pray for the development of the program and its success.”

In conjunction with the reintroduction of the baseball program, Christendom will build a small practice facility on campus – which will include covered batting cages, pitching mounds and a practice infield – to be used by both the baseball team and the school’s women’s softball team, the release states. Christendom will play its home games at Champions 53 baseball field and Bing Crosby Stadium in Front Royal.

In 2012, Christendom’s baseball team won the Eastern States Baseball League (ESBL) championship.

Baseball is the latest addition to Christendom’s athletic offerings – softball was reintroduced to the school last spring, while men’s and women’s cross country made its debut last fall.
