Recreation Calendar for April 7-8 paper

The following are some of the area recreational events that are being held:

Festival activities
The following activities are planned during the Apple Blossom Festival:
• Tennis pro-am: 8 a.m.-4:30 p.m., Saturday, April 23, at Winchester Country Club, 1300 Senseny Road.
• Pro-am golf tournament: 8:30 a.m.-3 p.m., Wednesday, April 27 at Shenandoah Valley Golf Club, 134 Golf Club Circle, Shenandoah, $125.
• Breakfast walk: 8-11 a.m., Thursday, April 28, Westminster-Canterbury, 300 Westminster-Canterbury Drive, Winchester. Preregistration required, $20.
• Kids Bloomin’ Mile: 4-5:30 p.m., Friday, April 29, Handley High School, $13-20.
• 10K race: 8:30-10 a.m., Saturday, April 30, Handley High School, $25-35.

Golf tournament
A Swing for a Cure golf tournament for Relay for Life will be held at 1 p.m. April 24 at the Shenandoah Valley Golf Club in Front Royal.

The cost is $280 per team or $70 per person, which includes greens fee, cart, meal and prizes. There will be a hold-in-one contest to win a new Chevrolet.

Run for Fun
Pledges are being accepted for a Color Run for Fun sponsored by E. Wilson Morrison Elementary School in Front Royal from 5 to 8 p.m. May 27 to raise funds to replace 75-year-old auditorium seating.

Registration on event day begins at 4 p.m. A block party will follow. Rain date is June 3.
