Porter named a semifinalist for Player of the Award

Sherando graduate Tre Porter was named a Tino Martinez D2 National Baseball Player of the Year semifinalist on Friday.

The Shepherd University senior shortstop is one of 40 semifinalists for the award named after former Major Leaguer Martinez.

Porter is batting .405 (52 for 127) with 52 runs scored, 16 home runs and 41 RBIs for the Rams this season. He also has five doubles, four triples and has drawn 29 walks.

The Rams are 30-12 on the season, including 21-7 in the Mountain East Conference.
