The following are some of the area recreational events that are being this week:
Dash for Diabetes
The Shenandoah Valley Runners will sponsor a Chick-fil-A Dash for Diabetes race at 8 a.m. Monday at Millbrook High School in Winchester. Featured will be a four-mile race and a kids’ one mile (for ages 5-12) and 100-yard dash.

Girls on the Run of the Shenandoah Valley will hold a sneaker soiree celebrating its fifth anniversary from 6 to 9 p.m. Sept. 8 at Valerie Hill Vineyard & Winery, 1687 Marlboro Road, Stephens City.
Featured will be food from local restaurants, wine, raffles and live music. Guests are encouraged to pair their party attire with their favorite sneakers. There will be prizes for sneaker-wearers throughout the evening.
The nonprofit program for girls in third through eighth grades, inspires them to be joyful, healthy and confident using a fun, experience-based curriculum which creatively integrates running.
