Luray triathlon
The Luray International Triathlon and Luray Spring Triathlon will be held from 6 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday and Sunday at Lake Arrowhead. The race features athletes swimming, biking and running. Information: www.luraytriathlon.com.

Girl’s basketball
The Warren County Parks and Recreation will hold a girl’s basketball camp from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday at Warren County Middle School for girls in grades five-eight (as of the 2016-17 school year).

The cost is $25. Campers must bring their own lunch and drink. Registration is required by calling 540-635-1021 or Coach Post at 540-635-3635.

5K, run/walk
The Strasburg United Methodist Church will hold a 5K and family fun run/walk at 7 a.m. Saturday at the Strasburg Town Park.

Registration is $25 for adults and $15 for ages 17 and younger. Information, registration: www.splashdashva.org.

Page Valley Fair
The Page Valley Fair will be held Saturday through Aug. 27 at the fairgrounds in Luray.
Featured will be a horse show, lawn mower races, FFA shows, tractor pulls, music and demolition derby.

Golf tournament
The Front Royal Police Foundation’s seventh annual golf tournament will be held Aug. 25 at the Shenandoah Valley Golf Club.

The entry fee, which is $100 per person or $400 for a team, includes snacks, shotgun start, dinner and awards. Golfers who make a hole-in-one on designated Par 3 holes will win a new car.

Torch run
The Virginia Law Enforcement Torch Run, Pedal, Paddle, Run/Walk event will be held at 7 a.m. Aug. 27 at Burke Lake Park in Fairfax Station.

The three-part adventure race consists of canoeing, biking, running and walking. The cost is $95 for individuals or $125 for a family of four. Registration, information: www.runsignup.com.

Girls on the run
Girls on the Run of the Shenandoah Valley has announced the expansion of two new sites this fall.

The program will be available for girls at W.W. Robinson Elementary School in Woodstock and a new program called Heart & Sole will be offered for girls at Middletown Elementary School.

The 10-week program will start the week of Aug. 29 and culminate with a 5K run on Nov. 12.

The program, already available at nine area schools, is a physical activity-based positive youth development program for girls in third to eighth grade. Registration for the fall program can be made online at www.girlsontherunsv.org.
