All-Area Track Teams

Boys

*100 — Markeith Brisco, Sherando — The standout running back placed second in the event in the Northwestern District meet.

*200 — Charles Bailey, Clarke County — The senior took first-place at the Group A, Region B meet

*400 — Neil Bishop, Millbrook — Finished 12th at the Region II meet.

*800 — Stephen Lassiter, Millbrook — Placed sixth at the Region II meet, running in a time of 2:07.74.

*1,600 — Lassiter — The Pioneer finished seventh at the state meet with a time of 4:27.36 and posted a fourth-place finish at the region meet.

*3,200 — Ben Veilleux, Clarke County — The Eagle finished in championship fashion at the state meet in 9:56.82.

*110 Hurdles — Brenton Parham, Millbrook — Won the Northwestern District title in the event.

*300 Hurdles — Parham — Group AA state champion with a mark of 39.22.

*4x100 relay — Warren County (Japheth Chunn, Rakeem Shuler, Darryl Ford and Marty Haley) — The Wildcats took district honors with a first-place run of 45.04.

*4x400 relay — Millbrook (Josh Cecil, Brad Beauregard, Bishop and Parham) — Region II champs and Group AA runners-up in event.

*4x800 relay — Millbrook (Nick Flowerday, Bobby Vance, Cecil and Lassiter) — Took Northwestern District meet honors in 8:08.77.

*High jump — John Lilly, Clarke County — His jump of 6-02 was good enough for 11th place at the state meet.

*Long jump — Phillip Hovatter, Stonewall Jackson — He was ninth at the Region B meet with a mark of 20-02.75

*Triple jump — Hovatter — Placed fourth at the Region B meet with a mark of 42-05.

*Shot put — Joey Christine, Sherando — Won the Region II title with a toss of 47-10.5.

*Discus — Rueben Shanks, Warren County — The Wildcat was tops at states with a winning throw of 152 feet on his last heave of the day.

Girls

*100 — Andrea Gaither, Clarke County — Placed seventh at the Group A state meet with a time of 12.86.

*200 — Gaither — Added a sixth-place finish in the event at states for the Eagles who won an overall girls title with 74.5 points.

*400 — Danielle Moyer, Clarke County — Ran in 1:00.04 for a second-place finish at states.

*800 — Sophia Holmes, Clarke County — Finished in third in the Region II meet and 16th at the state meet.

*1,600 — Holmes — Third-place finish at the Group A state championships in 5:26.65.

*3,200 — Mara Smith, Warren County — Third at the Region II meet with a mark of 11:41.57.

*100 Hurdles — Schavon Hinds, Millbrook — District and region winner in the event. Placed second at the state competition.

*300 Hurdles — Hinds — Placed seventh at the state meet after winning the event at the district meet.

*4x100 relay — Millbrook (Raven Jenkins, Madison Ross, Melyssa Robinson, Hinds) — Finished first in Northwestern District relay and placed fifth at the Region II meet.

*4x400 relay — Clarke County (Natasha Donner, Gaither, Holmes and Moyer) — Their time of 4:09.39 was worthy of a Group A state championship.

*4x800 relay — Sherando (Hunt, Schultz, Rachel Tripp, Erin Dougherty) — The foursome was second to Brentsville at the Northwestern District meet.

*High jump — Lauren Carter, Sherando — Placed fifth at regions and second in the district meet with a jump of 5-02.00.

*Long jump — Jasmine Burill, Skyline — Finished fourth at the state meet with a leap of 108-01.50 and won the district meet with a leap of 16-08.25.

*Triple jump — Lauren Wilkins, Sherando — Won the event for the Warriors after posting a mark of 33-11.00 in districts.

*Shot put — Tara Fields, Clarke County — Placed seventh at the state meet with a toss of 35-02.00.

*Discus — Cassie Frye, Strasburg — Won a state title by more than three feet with a throw of 133-10.
