Local SportsSaturday, September 27, 2008 Diary of an athlete: Warriors pumped for first real testBy Hunter Taylor -- Sherando football player This week was just like the last three. Everyone was extra pumped because this will be our first "real test." Handley is a very athletic team, so we all had to step it up another notch this week was the week we needed to reach "212," which is the temperature at which water boils. It's one of coach Hall's favorite sayings 212 is that one notch that takes a good team and makes them great. Handley is one of those football teams that will hit you back after each and every snap, and that's what we are looking for. These are the kind of games that show you exactly how good you really are. This week we are focused solely on getting better. We have ignored all the papers and press and just focused on one another and what we need to do to get that one notch better. That one notch can win you a football game but can also lose you that football game just as fast, so each and every week no matter the team, no matter the place, we need to reach that 212 and put ourselves that much closer to our goals. But no matter what the outcome, we are still a family with one heartbeat. |
