STEPHENS CITY -- If Thursday's Northwestern District tournament play-in game between James Wood and Skyline is any indication of how the rest of the tournament will play out, basketball fans throughout the area are in for quite a treat.

CHARLOTTESVILLE -- The Virginia High School League released the newest realignment plan for the 2013-2014 and 2014-2015 years. The plan would have six classifications. The plan would allow teams to play in districts that are better suited for them geographically regardless of what classification they are in.

FALLS CHURCH -- Central coach Stephanie Cooper gave her team a pep talk at halftime telling her young squad that they needed to play with confidence and the talk worked. The Falcons rallied from a six-point halftime deficit and knocked off George Mason, 51-50, in Bull Run District action. It was the first district loss since 2008 for the Mustangs, who are currently ranked No. 5 in the AP Group A poll.
