ARLINGTON — Shenandoah University earned its first victory of the 2009-10 men’s basketball season Tuesday night with a 76-72 non-league victory at Marymount University.

Senior Lenzie Adams hit his fourth 3-pointer of the game with 11 seconds to go to give Shenandoah (1-3) the lead for good over Marymount (3-2).

After the Saints turned the ball over on their next possession, junior Brandon Bryan canned a pair of free throws with four seconds left to provide the final margin of victory.

Adams’ 3-pointer capped a flurry in which the two teams were either tied or traded the lead on 23 occasions during the contest. Four of those lead changes occurred in the final 95 seconds and Shenandoah took the lead on two consecutive possessions on Adams’ 3-pointers.

The 3-pointer also completed an SU comeback in which the Hornets trailed 33-27 at the half and by nine points 40 seconds into the second half.

A 7-0 Shenandoah run from the 14:37 to 12:40 marks gave the Hornets their first lead; the two teams were separated by no more than five points the rest of the way.

In addition to snapping a three-game losing streak to start the season, Shenandoah now holds a 13-2 lead in the all-time series between the Hornets and Saints.

Junior Kevin Kline led the Hornets with 20 points.
