Prep roundup: R-MA holds off Eagles for baseball victory

FRONT ROYAL — Randolph-Macon Academy held off a rally by Fredericksburg Christian on Thursday for a 7-6 Delaney Athletic Conference baseball victory.

The Yellow Jackets had a 4-3 lead entering the sixth inning, but the Eagles tied the game at 4-4. R-MA responded with a three-run sixth, and held on as Fredericksburg scored two in the seventh.

Doug Brennand went 2 for 3 and scored two runs, and Sam Schachter was 2 for 3 with a run scored and two RBIs. Ben Hester went 1 for 3 with three RBIs.

Strasburg 12, Manassas Park 2, 6 innings
STRASBURG — The Rams took an early lead and didn’t look back in a Bull Run District victory over the Cougars. The game was stopped in the sixth due to the mercy rule.

The Rams, who scored five in the first, were led by Ryan Smoot with 3 for 4 with four runs. Josh Pritchett went 3 for 5 with two doubles and five RBIs, and Mark Smoot also went 3 for 3 with two RBIs for the Rams (10-0, 7-0 Bull Run).

FRONT ROYAL — The Patriots made six errors, which proved costly in a loss to the Warriors in a game played at Bing Crosby Stadium.

The Patriots (5-3) were led by Matt Rogers, who went 2 for 3 with a run scored and three stolen bases. Minyong Jung was 1 for 2 with a double and an RBI for SVCA.
