On Campus notebook: Fulgham scores first career touchdown for ODU

Former Massanutten Military Academy standout Travis Fulgham scored the first touchdown of his college career Saturday for Old Dominion University.

Fulgham had a 55-yard touchdown catch from ODU quarterback David Washington in the second quarter of the Monarchs’ 52-17 victory over the University of North Carolina at Charlotte.

The 6-foot-3 redshirt sophomore wide receiver had two receptions in the game for 64 yards.

For the season Fulgham is third on the team with 10 catches for 160 yards.

On Sept. 24 in a 33-19 victory over the University of Texas-San Antonio, Fulgham had five receptions for 55 yards.

Last year as a freshman, Fulgham had six receptions for 89 yards and played in 10 games.

The Monarchs are 3-2 on the season and host the University of Massachusetts on Saturday.

Leading the way: Autumn Troxell (Warren County ’15) is having another strong year for Randolph College’s volleyball team.

The sophomore leads the team with 183 kills, 563 attacks and 207.5 points in 16 matches.

Troxell also has 16 blocks. She’s second on the team with 197 digs and has 16 service aces.

She had a season-high 22 kills on Saturday in a 3-2 loss to Ursinus College. She also had one service ace and a season-best 22 digs in the match.

On Sept. 9 against Methodist University, Troxell had 14 kills, five service aces and 15 digs in a 3-2 victory for the WildCats.

Randolph is 2-14 on the season and play at Bridgewater College on Wednesday at 7 p.m.

On the rise: Anthony Wallis (Strasburg ’13) and Sarah Elbon (Strasburg ’13) are having strong seasons running for the University of Virginia-Wise.

Wallis finished 22nd in the Maroon Invitational on Sept. 17 in a time of 33:27.2. He helped lead the Cavaliers to a second place finish as a team with 42 points in the meet hosted by Roanoke College.

In the women’s Maroon Invitational, Elbon placed 18th in a time of 23:47.8. She was the top finisher for the girls team.

U.Va.-Wise placed sixth in the women’s meet.

On Sept. 2, Wallis placed 57th in the Berea/Centre College Cross Country Kick Off Classic in Berea, Kentucky. Wallis had a time of 17:56.9 in the 5K.

Elbon placed 61st in the same meet with a time of 14:55.4. The women’s race was a 2K.

On Sept. 24, Elbon finished 13th in the WVU Tech Golden Bear Classic in Beckley, West Virginia.

Elbon ran the 5K race in a time of 24:03.6. The Cavaliers finished sixth as a team with 133 points.
