2017 All-Area Girls Soccer Team

Haley Bischoff

First Team

Haley Bischoff, Strasburg

The senior goalkeeper led the area with 264 saves and posted two shutouts. Bischoff was a second team All-Region 2A East selection and a first team All-Bull Run District and All-Conference 35 pick.

Lauren Cook, Central

The junior forward led the Falcons with 12 goals and was second on the team with five assists. Cook was a second team All-Region 2A East selection and first team All-Bull Run District and All-Conference 35.

Alexa Fairis, Sherando

The junior led the Warriors and tied for eighth in the area with 12 goals and was second on the team with eight assists. Fairis was named a first team All-Conference 21 West selection as a defender.

LuLu Funkhouser, Stonewall Jackson

The junior led the Generals with 15 goals, a mark that ranked as the sixth-best total among local girls this past season. Funkhouser also ranked in the area’s top 10 in assists (seven), the second-best mark for Stonewall.

Hannah Max, SVCA

Alexa Fairis

The senior midfielder was second in the area in goals scored (30) and led all local players with 18 assists. Max was named to the National Association of Christian Athletes All-Tournament team.

Rebekah Max, SVCA

The sophomore moved from goalkeeper to the midfield this spring and scored 18 goals for the Patriots, the third-best mark among local players. Max also ranked third in the area with 11 assists.

Sarah Max, SVCA

The sophomore forward led the area with 35 goals and ranked second among all local girls with 13 assists. Max was named the National Association of Christian Athletes tournament’s Offensive MVP.

LuLu Funkhouser

Lisette Moya, Warren County

The junior midfielder finished the 2017 as the Wildcats’ leading goal scorer, as she contributed six goals to Warren County’s offensive attack. Moya was a first team All-Conference 28 selection.

Karla Rodriguez, Central

The junior defender helped lead a Falcon defense that posted eight shutouts during the 2017 season. Rodriguez was a second team All-Region 2A East selection, a first team All-Conference 35 pick and second team All-Bull Run District.

Rachel Skube, Skyline

Hannah Max

The senior forward was the Hawks’ leading goal scorer this past season, as she finished the spring with eight goals. She also had an assist. Skube was a first team All-Conference 28 selection.

Paige Wilson, Central

The senior defender helped lead a Falcon defense that limited opposing teams to 1.6 goals per game. Wilson was a first team All-Region 2A East, All-Conference 35 and All-Bull Run District selection.

Dustin Wheelock, SVCA

In his ninth season, Wheelock led the Patriots to an overall record of 24-2-1, an NACA Division I national championship and an MDCC title. SVCA averaged 5 goals per game and held opponents to 0.9 per match.
