2017 Boys Track and Field All-Area teams

Isaiah Allen

First team

Isaiah Allen, Sherando, throws

The sophomore placed second in the shot put at the Group 4A state meet with a throw of 54-03.25. Allen also placed fourth in the discus at the state meet with a throw of 154-09.

Wade Banks, Stonewall Jackson, hurdles/jumps

The junior placed second in the 100 hurdles at the Group 2A state meet  with a time of 15.95 seconds. Banks also placed third in the 300 hurdles (42.97) at the state meet.

Kyle Clanton, Central, sprints, jumps

The sophomore was fifth in the 200-meter dash at the Group 2A state meet in a time of 23.08 seconds. Clanton was part of Central’s 4×400 relay team, which won the 2A state title.

Ryan Day, Strasburg, throws

The senior placed third in the discus in the Group 2A state meet with a throw of 140-08. Day’s season-best throw of 145-06 was second-best in the area.

Saxon Franklin, Central, jumps

Kyle Clanton

The senior finished third in the triple jump with a leap of 43-10.50. He also ran the second leg of the 4×400 relay team, which won the state title and broke the state meet record with a time of 3:26.44.

Jacquari Hayes, Sherando, jumps

The senior placed fifth in the long jump with a leap of 21-00.50. Hayes was also ninth in the triple jump (43-04.50). hayes helped lead the Warriors to a ninth-place finish in the Group 4A state meet.

Coy Jimenez, Central, sprints/throws

The junior ran the final leg of Central’s 4×400 Group 2A state champion relay team. Jimenez also placed third in the 400 (50.37), sixth in the 100 (11.55) and seventh in the discus (129-04).

Ryan Day

Sam Johnson, Sherando, throws

The senior placed seventh in the shot put with a throw of 50-04. Johnson’s top shot put throw of the year of 51-00, was second best in the area behind teammate Isaiah Allen.

Carston Shockey, Central, sprints

The senior ran the first leg of Central’s 4×400 relay team, which broke the state meet record. Shockey helped lead the Falcons to a fourth-place finish in the Group 2A boys state meet.

Kaelan Sorrells, Stonewall, sprints/jumps

Saxon Franklin

The senior finished third in the 400 (51.58) and sixth in the 200 (23.36) in the Group 1A state meet. Sorrells was also part of the 4×400 relay team, which won the state title with a time of 3:33.32.

Elijah Waters, Strasburg, hurdles

The senior placed second in the 110 hurdles (15.14) at the Group 2A state meet. Waters, who won the 110 hurdles state title as a junior, missed most of the season due to injuries.

T.J. Washington, Sherando, jumps

The sophomore placed second in the triple jump in the Group 4A state meet with a leap of 46-01.25. Washington also finished ninth in the long jump with a jump of 20-04.

Rick Lytton, Central, coach

Lytton guided the Falcons to a fourth-place finish in the boys Group 2A state meet, including a state title in the 4×400 relay. Central finished third in the Region 2A East meet.
