2017 Girls Tennis All-Area team
Emily Ball, Stonewall Jackson
The senior helped lead Stonewall Jackson to a Region 1A East berth for the second straight year. She also advanced to the Region 1A East tourney in singles and in doubles with Katherine Good.
Lander Barbour, Central
The sophomore played at No. 1 singles this season for the Falcons. Barbour helped lead the Falcons to a tie for second place in the Bull Run District. The young team won three matches this year.
Sarah-Beth Blaney, Sherando
The junior played at No. 3 singles for the 22-1 Warriors this season. Blaney helped Sherando pull out some key matches throughout the season and finish as the Group 4A runner-up.
Pearl Moore, Warren County
The senior played at No. 1 singles this year for the first time in her career and helped the Wildcats to a solid 9-7 record. Moore advanced to the Conference 28 singles tournament semifinals.
Abby Sears, Sherando
The junior was the Conference 21 West singles tournament runner-up. Sears, along with teammate Kathryn Robertson, advanced to the Group 4A doubles state tournament.
Kaylee Venable, Skyline
The senior set a school record for most wins in a season at No. 1 singles. She finished with a 12-4 singles record this year. She advanced to the Conference 28 singles tournament semifinals.
Coach: Trevor Johnson, Sherando
Johnson led the Warriors to a 22-1 record. The Warriors were the Group 4A state runners-up, and advanced for the first time in school history. Sherando also won its first-ever regional title in girls tennis.
