The following are some of the area recreational events that are being held:
Waggin’ for Dragons
The Petco Foundation will present Waggin’ for Dragons, a boat race featuring 17 teams of 21 paddlers and one drummer, to benefit the Warren County Humane Society starting at 9 a.m. Saturday at the Front Royal Country Club, 902 Country Club Road.
Parking for spectators will be available in the Target parking lot. The Front Royal Trolley will make runs to the race starting at 8 a.m. Food and drinks will be available. Information: www.wagginfordragons.com.
The Front Royal Volunteer Fire Department will hold several events Saturday to benefit Blue Ridge Hospice at 221 N. Commerce Ave.
A motorcycle ride and car show cruise-in will be held from noon to 4 p.m., dinner will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. and a silent auction and dance will follow from 8 to 11 p.m.

Wine & Nine
Aug. 15 is the deadline to enter to play in Shenandoah Valley Golf Club’s annual Wine & Nine Scotch Doubles Golf Social to benefit the Blue Ridge Arts Council on Aug. 18 at 134 Golf Club Circle, Front Royal.
A social hour and player check-in will start at 4 p.m. followed by a shotgun start at 5 p.m.
The entry fee is $50 for non-club members and $40 for club members. The entry fee includes a cart, green fees, reception and prizes.

Shenandoah National Park will hold its annual Night Sky Festival Aug. 18-21 at 3655 U.S. Highway 211 East, Luray.
Featured will be astronomy experts, Ranger programs, children’s activities and more. The park will also view the solar eclipse on Aug. 21.
The Luray International and Luray Sprint races will be held Aug. 19-20 at Lake Arrowhead Park in Luray. Athletes also have the option of competing in the AquaBike race.
