The following are some of the area recreational events that are being held:
The State Arboretum at Blandy Farm in Boyce will offer Mindfulness in Nature: Guided Walking Meditation from 5:45 to 7:45 p.m. Monday.
Participants will learn to slow down and draw on nature through guided meditation, silent walking and personal reflection.

The Town of Luray will offer night catfishing until midnight on Oct. 27 at Lake Arrowhead in Luray. Fishing permits are required for ages 16 and older. Information: 540-743-6475.
Run for the Red
The American Red Cross will hold its Run for the Red Walk/Run Oct. 28 at the Third Battle of Winchester, 541 Redbud Road, Winchester.
Registration and packet pickup will be held from 9 to 10 a.m. and the race will be held from 10 to 11:30 a.m. An awards ceremony will follow.

Greasy Gooney 10K
Shenandoah Valley Runners will sponsor the Greasy Gooney 10K starting at 8:45 a.m. Oct. 28 in Browntown.
Registration, which begins at 7:45 a.m., is $20 in advance and $25 on race day. Proceeds benefit the Browntown Community Center. Information: www.gg10k.com/register.html.
The Town of New Market will hold its annual Fairway 5K Walk/Run starting at 8 a.m. Nov. 11 at the town’s Community Park.
Registration is $25 before Oct. 28 (includes a T-shirt) and $30 after.
