Recreation notes: Dec. 7

The following are some of the area recreational events that are being held:

Hoop Shoot

Front Royal Elks Lodge 2382 will host its annual Elks Hoop Shoot contest at 12:30 p.m. Sunday at Skyline Middle School for kids ages 8 to 13.

Sky Meadows 5-10K

Sky Meadows State Park in Deleplane will hold a 5K and 10K race Dec. 16 at Turner Pond. Walkers welcome.

The 10K race starts at 9:45 a.m. and the 5K at 10 a.m.

Registration is $30 for the 5K and $45 for the 10K.

Jingle Bell 5K

Reynolds Memorial Baptist Church Youth Group and Rappahannock 4-H will host the Jingle Bell 5K Run/Walk Dec. 16 at The Washington School, 567 Mt. Salem Ave., Washington, Virginia.

Registration starts at 7:45 a.m. followed by the 5K Walk at 8:45 a.m. and the 5K Run at 9 a.m.

Registration is $25 in advance or $30 on race day and $20 for walkers. Proceeds benefit the Rappahannock County Sheriff’s Children’s Foundation “Shop with a Deputy” program.

Jingle Bell 5K

Shenandoah Valley Runners will sponsor the Jingle Bell 5K at 9:30 a.m. Dec. 16 at the state Arboretum at Blandy Farm in Boyce.
