Recreation Events: May 3

The following are some of the area recreational events that are scheduled:

Run/Walk for Charlie

Luray and Page County will host the Run/Walk for Charlie from 7:30 a.m. to noon Saturday at Ralph Dean Park in Luray. Proceeds benefit Charles Sours in his cancer fight. Registration is $35 and $15 for elementary  and high school students. Registration: www.facebook.com/runforcharliesours and www.facebook.com/pagecountysheriff.


Wellness 5k

Shenandoah Valley Runners will hold its annual Winning with Wellness 5k Run/Walk and Kids’ Fun Run at 8:30 a.m. May 12 at Frederick County Middle School in Winchester.

Proceeds will benefit the Frederick County Educational Foundation. Information: www.wellness5k.fcpsk12.net.


Color Run/Walk

Shenandoah County’s Parks and Recreation and Chamber of Commerce will host the ShenCo 5k Color Run & Walk from 9 a.m. to noon May 12 at the county park in Maurertown.

The cost is $30 if pre-registered before Wednesday, $35 race day and free for ages 12 and younger. It will be held rain or shine.

There will be a post-race celebration with music, local brews, food and activities for the kids. Registration: www.scprsignup.info.


Glow Run

Clean Inc., a nonprofit organization helping to prevent drug and alcohol abuse among youth, will host its annual Glow Run and Glow Getter Tot Run at 8 p.m. May 19 at Valley Health Wellness Center, 401 Campus Blvd., Winchester.

Packets can be picked up from 3 to 7 p.m. May 18 at the Center. Race-day check-in will begin at 7 p.m. A party follows. Registration: 540-722-3589 or online at www.cleaninc.org/glowrun.


Kiwanis 5k

The Front Royal Kiwanis 5k will be held from 9 to 10:30 a.m. May 19 at the Warren County Health and Human Services Complex in Front Royal.

Registration begins at 8 a.m. Proceeds benefit Warren County Special Olympics. Awards will be given.

The entry fee is $13 in advance or $16 on race day. Kiwanis and Shenandoah Valley Runners members will receive a $1 discount.
