In Brief: Shenandoah picked fourth in ODAC preseason poll
FOREST – Shenandoah University’s football team was picked fourth in the Old Dominion Athletic Conference preseason poll, the conference announced Monday.
Shenandoah, coming off its second straight 6-4 season, garnered 26 points in a vote of ODAC coaches, tying the Hornets for fourth in the eight-team conference with league newcomer Ferrum.
Washington and Lee and Randolph-Macon shared the top spot, as each received 44 points in the poll. W&L received four first-place votes while the Yellow Jackets received two.
Hampen-Sydney, the No. 3 pick (37 points), and Ferrum each received one first-place vote.
Voting was done on a 7-1 basis, and coaches weren’t allowed to vote for their own teams in the poll.
Shenandoah opens the 2018 season on Sept. 1 at Methodist.
