Recreation Calendar: July 15

The following are some of the area recreational events that are being held:

Bike/car show

Warren County 4-H will hold a bike and car show from 8 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. today at the County Fairgrounds in Front Royal.

Vendors, 50/50 raffle, music, and games for kids will be featured and food will be sold. Information: 540-622-8234.


Hot Rod Cruisers of Front Royal will host a cruise-in from 4 to 8 p.m. today at Cooter’s in Luray, 4768 U.S. Highway 211 West, Luray. DJ Eddie Smith will provide music.

Midget football camp

The Front Royal Midget Football League will host its annual strength and conditioning camps from 5 to 7 p.m. Sunday and July 23 and 30 at the old middle school game field, 465 W. 15th St., Front Royal.

Registration is being accepted through Aug. 1 for the fall season for both boys and girls ages 5 through 14. Information, registration: http://frontroyalmidgetfootballleague.com.

Strasburg Splash Dash

The Strasburg Splash Dash will be held July 22 at the Town Park.

Registration will begin at 7:30 a.m. following by the run at 8 a.m. and awards ceremony at 9:15 a.m. The registration fee is $10 for youth, $12 for adults and $15 on race day. Information: http://www.splashdashva.org.

8K for MS

Shenandoah Valley Runners will sponsor the 8K for Multiple Sclerosis July 22 at the Third Battle of Winchester Battlefield, 251 First Woods Drive, Winchester.

The top five overall male and female winners will receive awards. Registration is $15. Information:  www.8kforms.com.

Ride & Tie

The 47th annual Ride & Tie World Championship will be held July 22-23 at the Old Dominion Base Camp in Orkney Springs.

The race combines trail running, endurance riding and strategy. The goal is to get all three team members, two humans and one horse, across a 20- to 100-mile cross-country course by alternating riding and running.

There will also be an equathon held, consisting of a 16-mile loop traveled on horseback, followed by a six-mile run.
