STEPHENS CITY – Sherando High School head wrestling coach Pepper Martin said when he came across a 9-year-old Jacob Stevens competing for a local youth wrestling league, he knew the Warriors’ program was soon going to receive a “potential good one.” As a high school sophomore last season, Stevens was showing that potential.

Christyan Reid

December 21, 2016

STRASBURG – It wasn’t that Christyan Reid felt overwhelmed or uncomfortable playing as a freshman on Strasburg High School’s varsity girls basketball team at the beginning of the season a few weeks ago. Playing for the Winchester Rising Stars AAU program for the last two-plus years has acclimated her to competing against older players. But Reid still needed some time to adjust.

Cam Ford

He thought his senior season this fall would consist of him again hauling in passes, not throwing them, but Warren County’s struggles this season prompted a change of plans.

Cassie Cooper

October 12, 2016

STRASBURG – When Cassie Cooper joined Strasburg High School’s junior-varsity volleyball team as an eighth grader in 2012, she did so strictly as a hitter. Now a senior for the Rams’ varsity squad, she does a little bit of everything.
