STEPHENS CITY -- Shenandoah Valley Christian Academy's boys' soccer team broke a three-game losing streak Tuesday by putting pressure on Randolph-Macon Academy early and then playing strident defense in the second half.
FRONT ROYAL -- Randolph-Macon Academy lost their third straight game Saturday, this time 42-6 to undefeated St. James.
The Yellow Jackets trailed 35-0 at the half after Saints quarterback Jamie Peterson connected with running back Mike Townes on a long touchdown pass just before the half.
MONTREAL -- The run was nearly as easy as it looked. It was July 1, the season-opener for the Montreal Alouettes and the Saskatchewan Roughriders. It was also a rematch of last year's Canadian Football League championship game, also called the Grey Cup.
HARRISONBURG -- The ninth-seeded Randolph-Macon Academy Yellow Jackets girls basketball squad suffered its first loss of the season on Tuesday, coming up on the short end of a 38-25 score against No. 8 Eastern Mennonite in the first round of the Virginia Independent Schools Division II state tournament.
WARRENTON -- Randolph-Macon Academy sophomore Erin Dullahan sat on the bench Saturday while five of her teammates, including conference Co-Player of the Year Anastasia Voellm, were announced as the starting lineup for the Delaney Athletic Conference tournament championship game against Fredericksburg Academy.
FRONT ROYAL -- Undefeated Millbrook High School may have the best girls basketball team in the area, but even the Pioneers would have to play second fiddle to the home cooking the crowd at Randolph-Macon Academy deals out to an opponent.
DUMFRIES -- The long snow-induced layoff seemed to have little effect on Randolph-Macon Academy's girls basketball team on Thursday, as the Yellow Jackets downed Pope John Paul the Great 49-29 to finish with the program's first-ever unbeaten regular season.
WOODSTOCK -- If there were a sports version of the Geneva Convention, the Randolph-Macon Academy Yellow Jackets' 69-6 annihilation of the Massanutten Military Academy Colonels in girls basketball on Monday night would have violated many of its provisions.
